I started grooming again while I was raising my children and learned to groom most breeds while showing the dogs or teaching handling classes, It gave me the experience of learning from the breeders themselves what their dog should look like and how to create the perfect outline of each breed. I groomed in the show world for 10 to 15 years, while grooming and doing cosmetology work at elder care facilities. And after a divorce I found myself supporting my children grooming and working at a holistic pet store where I learned a lot about different dog foods... and skin problems, and how to deal with infections and yeast problems in dogs, there is a lot of new treatments coming out with these skin conditions and sometimes I like the old tried and true methods better than the new innovative treatments. After saying that I do want to mention I learn new things each day with each dog I work with. And I find having a variety of options helps in each different situation. I married my husband and moved to the Portland area in 2001, where I was so excited to get to show on a more regular basis, previously I would drive 4 to 22 hours to go to shows and there are so many on the I-5 corridor I was thrilled to be in this area! But My husband was seriously injured and I again had to work full time to support my family I started at Petsmart In Beaverton and soon transferred to the Vancouver store where we quickly went to the top salon in our area. I enjoyed teaching and nurturing the up to 10 groomers and 5 bathers in the busy salon. Where I met a very nice lady with 2 poodles and a bichon frise which we groomed quite frequently. When I left Petsmart and ended up at Petco in delta park in 2006 where again our salon quickly grew to the top salon in the district, again I found joy in teaching . I was pleased to groom these same poodles Red and Pepper and Mario the bichon several members had been added to the poodle family through the extended family of their mother Corina Owens. All of which I enjoyed grooming and getting to know for the next few years, grew to love the dogs entrusted in my care, and sometimes it is the owners that I have that special bond with. And with some it is both, Corina fit into that category she is easy to like and fun to work for and in October of 2010 I did just that. Corina opened Showdogs grooming and ask me to manage the salon, I was pleased at the opportunity and grateful for the beautiful facility she has provided us, We have chosen the best products out of the showdog world to carry and use in our salon. Corina has good taste in the dog accessories she provides, If you need something special she will find it for you. If you need anything groomed bathed or deskunked I will be at your service any time. See you soon! |

I first learned to groom dogs when I was nine years old bathing for my mother in Grand Coulee Washington where my mother did dog grooming. |

We then moved to a farm/vineyard and I learned to groom all types of animals including pigs, horses, and steers, training all these was also a priority as I was showing these animals in fairs and high school competitions, I learned to groom for show by learning to judge animals in the FFA judging contests. I have used the knowledge I learned in FFA extensively in my life time and appreciate the experiences and trials the most in my high school education. I was also involved in several sports and went to college on a sports scholarship |
